Environmental Law & Environmental Justice
Within the same “spirit” of protecting vulnerable people, we also protect the planet from unnecessary harm; specifically our air and our water. We are able to draw from a wide range of Local, State, and or Federal tools and techniques to ensure our water is safe for drinking, and our air is safe for breathing. There are also legal tools available to us to ensure biodiversity protection, erosion management, ocean conservation, and wildlife preservation.
Environmental Justice, on the other hand, is protecting people from environmental harms. The Department of Justice defines environmental justice as: “the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.”
Environmental law, and environmental justice, is what inspired David to attend law school in the first place. We operate our practice with the understanding that, outside of modern warfare, global warming is likely to be the most disruptive phenomenon in our lifetime. There is currently a massive transition away from fossil fuels, and toward renewable energy. This transition presents enormous challenges, which we can advise on, as well as once in a lifetime business opportunities that we can assist with. We can also engage in lobbying efforts to assist this transition, but the spirit of our firm is civil litigation. We hold people accountable when they break the law and abuse their power. And that is especially true when it comes to abuse of our environment, or vulnerable communities.
